Okręt podwodny typu Szczupak 1923-1924 (6 szt.)
Ponieważ
znaczna część naszych małych okrętów podwodnych z powodu zużycia technicznego
oraz utraty wartości bojowej została skreślona z listy floty, pojawiła się
konieczność zastąpienia ich nowymi konstrukcjami. Odpowiedzią na to
zapotrzebowanie są prezentowane okręty typu Szczupak.
Są to
małe, typowe dla Bałtyku jednostki, ale o dość dużej – jak na swoją wielkość –
zdolności bojowej. Uzbrojone są w 3 wyrzutnie torpedowe (+ 2 torpedy zapasowe)
oraz działko 40 mm. Celem obniżenia oporów w pływaniu podwodnym działko zostało
pozbawione tarczy ochronnej. Szybkość i zasięg są odpowiednie do wielkości
okrętu i stawianych przed nim zadań. Głębokości zanurzenia nie są może
imponujące, ale biorąc pod uwagę akwen operacyjny, całkiem wystarczające.
