Niderlandzki okręt podwodny typu KVIII 1927-1928 (6 jednostek)
Pełnomorski okręt podwodny
przeznaczony do służby w koloniach. Okręt o charakterystyce trochę bardziej
ofensywnej niż okręty bazujące w Metropolii (typy „O”). Z tego też powodu, założono spory zasięg, a nacisk położono
raczej na prędkość nawodną niż podwodną. Zwracają uwagę dobre – jak na te lata
– wartości głębokości zanurzenia.
Wszystkie jednostki powstały w stoczni
Wilton-Fijenoord w Schiedam.
Opis techniczny.
Kadłub
Okręt dwukadłubowy, o typowych dla
tych czasów kształtach.
Napęd
Dwa silniki diesla Werkspoor o mocy 1200 KM każdy oraz dwa
silniki elektryczne Philips o mocy 400 KM każdy.
Uzbrojenie
- 1xIx75/55
Bofors/Wilton-Fijenoord P1920, przy elewacji maksymalnej 45o donośność
pociskiem HE 6,50 kg wynosi 16000 m;
- 1xIIx13,2/62 FN P1919,
przy elewacji 45o donośność pociskiem 0,05 kg wynosi 7000 m,
a przy elewacji maksymalnej 85o donośność tym samym pociskiem
wynosi 4080 m;
- 6xIxwt533 mm z
zapasem 12 torped.
Inne
Okręt został wyposażony w dwie radiostacje oraz szumonamiernik.
