Okręt podwodny typu Pirania 1938-1939 (9 szt.)
W celu zastąpienia
wycofanych okrętów podwodnych typu Tuńczyk
(SS-17 1919-22), zbudowano 9 nowych jednostek porównywalnej wielkości. Są
to niewielkie okręciki przeznaczone wyłącznie na Bałtyk.
Jak na swoją
wielkość, Piranie posiadają niezłe
uzbrojenie torpedowe oraz sporą wytrzymałość kadłuba, całkowicie wystarczającą
na warunki bałtyckie. Zamontowane na kadłubie działko 40 mm służy głównie do
obrony plot, a także do zwalczania z pozycji nawodnej mniejszych statków wroga.
Okręty osiągają zupełnie przyzwoite prędkości, a ich zasięg jest adekwatny do
akwenu, na którym będą operować.
Znowu mi się oberwie
za masywny kiosk, ale jest to przecież mały okręcik i wszystko większe od
„budki suflera” na pokładzie sprawia wrażenie wielkiego. Znowu umieściłem na
rysunku sylwetki marynarzy; może to uwidoczni, że ten kiosk obiektywnie nie
jest taki wielki. Poza tym, wachta gdzieś się musi podziać.
Sądzę, że w „temacie”
małych OP jesteśmy „zaopatrzeni” na dłuższy czas, szczególnie biorąc pod uwagę
stosunkowo liczne flotylle naszych sojuszników (Szwecja, Dania, no i w
mniejszym stopniu Litwa).
