Niderlandzkie okręty podwodne typu O11 1932-1933 (6 jednostek)
W związku z pogarszającym się stanem
technicznym oraz niewielką obecnie wartością bojową, bazujących w Metropolii
okrętów podwodnych typu O2,
zdecydowano o budowie sześciu nowych jednostek. Mimo niewielkich rozmiarów, OP
typu O11 posiadają stosunkowo duże
zapasy paliwa, słodkiej wody i żywności, umożliwiające im długotrwałe
przebywanie w morzu.
Nowe okręty stacjonować będą w
Metropolii, a ich zasadniczym obszarem operacyjnym będzie Morze Północne i
Kanał La Manche.
Po trzy jednostki zostały zbudowane w
stoczniach Wlton-Fijenoord w Schiedam i Willemsoord Werf w Den Helder.
