Budowa kolumbijskich eskortowców typu Persistente 1940-1941 (2 jednostki)
Niewielki eskortowiec, w pewnym
sensie, odpowiednik włoskich korwet typu Gabbiano,
lub mniejsza wersja brytyjskich typu Flower.
Mimo skromnych
rozmiarów, okręt posiada bardzo dobre właściwości morskie, dzięki pełnym
kształtom i stosunkowo wysokiej wolnej burcie. Duży zasięg umożliwia operowanie
na dłuższych szlakach konwojowych. Uzbrojenie jest dostosowane do zadań
eskortowych, obejmując artylerię uniwersalną i plot oraz broń pop. Sylwetka
okrętu nie jest może elegancka, ale nie ma to dla jej przydatności żadnego
znaczenia. Jednostka dysponuje pomieszczeniami przystosowanymi do przyjęcia 40
ewentualnych rozbitków.
Eskortowce
buduje stocznia Astillero Naval No.2 w Guayaquil. Wszystkie dostawy zapewnia przemysł
krajowy. Okręty zostały przydzielone admiralicji Boliwii i są to jej pierwsze morskie
jednostki wojenne.
