Niderlandzki okręt hydrograficzny typu Barentsz 1924 (2 jednostki)
Okręt z rodzaju niebojowych, ale
wprost niezbędny, szczególnie dla flot państw kolonialnych. Do podstawowych
zadań tej jednostki można zaliczyć:
- tyczenie i oznaczanie torów
żeglugowych;
- wykrywanie i oznaczanie przeszkód
wodnych (wraki, skały podwodne, mielizny itp.);
- prace pomiarowe i kartograficzne
wybrzeży;
- inne badania i pomiary o charakterze
oceanograficznym.
Wprawdzie do wykonywania powyższych
zadań uzbrojenie nie jest konieczne, ale w czasie wojny się przyda, kiedy
okręty te będą mogły być wykorzystane np. jako pomocnicze stawiacze min. Prócz
załogi stałej, jednostka może zaokrętować, zależnie od czasu trwania rejsu, od
6 do 12 specjalistów (oceanografów, geografów, kartografów itp.).
Jak już wyżej wspomniano, w czasie
wojny okręt może pełnić funkcję pomocniczego stawiacza min, biorąc na pokład do
32 min.
Obydwa okręty powstały w stoczni A.F.
Smulders w Schiedam.
Poniżej opis techniczny okrętu.
Kadłub
O stosunkowo wysokich burtach, celem
zapewnienia dobrej dzielności morskiej. Duży nadmiar wytrzymałości ma
zapobiegać poważniejszym uszkodzeniom przy nieprzewidzianym kontakcie z
przeszkodami podwodnymi (mielizna, skała podwodna, wrak itp.).
Napęd
Dwa wały napędowe i dwa diesle Werkspoor
w dwu maszynowniach.
Uzbrojenie
