Okręt podwodny typu Chimera 1936-1937 (3 szt.)
Duży, oceaniczny
okręt podwodny, przeznaczony do zastąpienia wysłużonych już jednostek typu Żarłacz (SS-23 1921-22).
Porównując ten
projekt z jednostkami typu Ostrobok
(SS-71 1936-37), należy wziąć pod uwagę odmienny rodzaj akwenów operacyjnych,
na których będą działać porównywane okręty. Chimera
ma operować na otwartych przestrzeniach oceanów, gdzie parametry nawigacyjne
(prędkość, zasięg, dzielność morska) są ważniejsze, niż bierna odporność konstrukcji
(np. głębokość operacyjna). Ostroboki
będą stale narażone na przeciwdziałanie npla, co w przypadku Chimer zdarzać się będzie tylko
sporadycznie (np. w czasie ataku na konwój).
Jak wnikliwi
obserwatorzy zauważą (pozdrowienia dla kolegi H_Babbocka!), kiosk okrętu został
skopiowany z okrętów typu Jesiotr
(SS-65 1935-36) i na tej jednostce może nawet sprawiać wrażenie zbyt małego. Niemniej
- jak już wspominałem – kioski tej konstrukcji cieszą się uznaniem naszych dowódców
OP i jeszcze jakiś czas będą stosowane.
Zwracam ponownie uwagę
na świetną (jak dla OP) dzielność morską Chimer,
na morzach południowych jest to ważne.
Uwzględniając uwagi
kolegi IDSM, wliczyłem do wyporności
podwodnej objętość kiosku i innych nadwodnych elementów okrętu, mam nadzieję,
że szanowny Kolega będzie już teraz usatysfakcjonowany.
Na temat pozostałych
własności okrętu nie będę się rozpisywał, wszystko można znaleźć w raporcie.
Do czasu innych
zarządzeń, okręty tego typu stacjonować będą w Portus Regius na Pembie.
