Budowa kolumbijskich rzecznych kutrów pancernych typu Riberalta 1944-1945 (4 jednostki)

Rzeczne kutry pancerne, jako klasa (podklasa?), pojawiły się w kolumbijskiej flocie w roku 1928, kiedy to tak właśnie sklasyfikowano zmodernizowaną kanonierkę rzeczną Iquitos. Następnym kutrem pancernym była – trochę eksperymentalna – Leticia, zbudowana w 1940 roku, jednakże dalszy rozwój tej klasy (podklasy?) poszedł inną drogą.
W konstrukcji prezentowanych kutrów, wykorzystano wieże (oraz części kadłubów) wycofywanych z uzbrojenia czołgów Renault D2. Pierwszym (o ile się nie mylę) przypadkiem takiego wykorzystania wież czołgowych, były węgierskie kutry rzeczne typu PM1 z roku 1940. Rozwiązanie takie pojawiło się również w roku 1975, na sowieckich monitorach typu MAK-2.
Główne zadania tych okrętów to: rozpoznanie, zwalczanie jednostek wroga o podobnej wielkości oraz wsparcie własnych oddziałów na brzegu (np. w czasie desantu).
Okręty budują stocznie: Astillero Fluvial Iquitos – 2 jednostki oraz Astillero Fluvial Puerto Arica i Astillero Fluvial Riberalta – po 1 jednostce. Wszystkie dostawy zapewnia przemysł krajowy.

- 1xIx47 mm/30 SA 34, przy elewacji maksymalnej 21o donośność pociskiem HE 1,415 kg wynosi 4620 m;
- 1xIx7,62 mm/80 Browning/FNA M1919, przy elewacji maksymalnej 21o donośność pociskiem 0,0098 kg wynosi 1820 m.
